Good thing they're not 10-12, then.

10-10-2 is .500, based on the points system-22 out of a possible 44 points.

You're both right, but OTL is an overtime loss, not an overtime tie.

One was an OT loss, the other was in the shootout, and thus a tied hockey game, with a bonus point awarded for nonsense

Eh, I think a shootout loss is still considered a loss. It's a stupid way to lose, but its direct competition, a mini game if you will, and the Flyers came up short.

10 minutes of 4 on 4 in OT, please. If you wanna throw a 5 minute 3 on 3 after that, well it's better than a shootout. There is at least hockey being played and consequences to your actions.

If nothing happens after that, then it is what it is. A tie. I bet there are very few that make it past a 10 minute 4 on 4, and even fewer past a 5 minute 3 on 3.

No points for a loss.

I agree wholeheartedly. Seems kind of stupid to me to decide who won a hockey game by not playing the hockey game.

I'd be fine with a 5 minute OT and call it a tie. Ties were fine in the NHL & it's predecessor leagues for nearly a century.

They have played 22 games, and have won 10. In any math system in the known universe, and probably the unknown universe, that is not .500

10 out of 22.

I am also ok with ties and I never wanted them to change it. It leads to teams getting shootout losses that are somehow ignored when talking about winning %.

Not when it's point based. In the NHL, points trump wins, so earning 22 of 44 is .500

I just wish they had ties. I despise the shootout, have despised it for years and hate that the Forsberg goal, as pretty as it was, won a (frank)ing Gold Medal
